Go The Bombers!

Bombers seem to be everywhere I look these days. Countless celebs are wearing them. It goes back to the whole 80’s era.A lot of the Australian designers, such as Josh Goot have included them in this season’s collections.
Romance Was Born was ahead of the curve, with their bombers featuring in last season’s collection.
I have started a major vintage collection, which are much more affordable than the $1,500 price tag that comes with the Josh Goot bombers.
I have vintage Escada, Versace and Chanel style chain link bombers.

One of my favourites has to be the Escada hunting dog bomber:

Another fave is the Escada Time Piece bomber:

A Day in the Shop

My first customer of the day was Toon. She bought a vintage Merivale denim jacket and looked like such a cutiepie mixing it up with her silk pussybow shirt and denim jeans.
Subi the dog was happy with her ball as mum Jennifer tried on the fox furs.

A pet parrot popped in and perched itself on my racoon coat while giving me a quick nip!
Adele looked stunning in her bubble flower skirt, contrasted with the woollen coat.
My final sale for the day was to Sam who snapped up the vintage Merivale silk leopard shirt. She was happy to take it back to work for show and tell. Her boss is Justin Hemmes. For those of you too young to know, he is John & Merivale's son.
I used to shop at the House of Merivale in the city when I was a teen. It was one of the coolest places to buy clothes back in the day!

My Chanel Jumpsuit On Sydney Fashion Blogger

Here’s my Chanel jumpsuit on Sydney Fashion Blogger. The photo was taken right outside the shop, just after she bought it. It's chic, unique and looks very cool on her figure, particularly with the matching Chanel bag.

Unfortunately, the jumpsuit was a one-off, vintage piece, but you’ll find plenty more designer and unique vintage pieces inside:

Tales Of Endearment

I was in my stall at Surry Hills Market, when three girls asked me if they could use my raccoon furs in a photo.
Here they are just next to my stall, with the tiled wall of the Clock Hotel as a backdrop. The photo was for the fashion blog Tales Of Endearment. Scroll down to the May 18 entry to see the pic. Click on it to read the story.
The mix of colours looks great, particularly against the dark blue tiles.

Find A Pop-Up Shop

Pop-up shops are becoming more popular as some niche clothing retailers (like me) ditch the overheads of a permanent shop and move toward a combination of web, weekend markets and once a season sales.
Love Story’s 2011 & 2012 May pop-ups in Blank Space Gallery went really well and I’m already booked in there for May 2013.
Here’s a great site where you can get the latest news on current and coming pop-up shops, as well as special offers for members. It’s called Find A Pop-Up Shop. You can also subscribe for email alerts of new sales.
Here’s their article about Love Story’s Blank Space pop-up.
Stay tuned: I’m looking for a space to do another pop-up sale late this June or early July. If anyone has a good space in the inner Eastern Suburbs, let me know.

Love Story At The Markets

The Love Story pop up sale at Blank Space was a massive success and will return there again in May next year.
Those of you on the hunt for some winter warmth will find the Love Story range of furs available for sale on the first Saturday of each month at Surry Hills Market. My stall is right next to the Clock Hotel. Trading hours are 9-4.
As of this month Love Story will not be at Bondi Beach Market every Sunday. That doesn’t mean I won’t be there at all: just not every Sunday.
Best to email me at lovestory1977@gmail.com to check re trading there.
The Love Story website is currently being worked on and hope to have it up and running soon so you can purchase online. In the meantime keep a look out for new items that will be listed on my ebay store. It has been sadly neglected due to Fashion Weekend and the pop up shop, but I will have new items placed on it every week from now on.

Love Story

Love Story is a culmination of years of being immersed in vintage clothing and my love particularly for all things furry and tactile. Amongst the collection you will find my beautiful range of 70’s inspired furs, including the long rabbit vests and rabbit bombers and my new range of brightly coloured racoon vests and coats. The vintage collection includes many great labels such as Emilio Pucci  (one of my all time favourite designers!), Chanel, Dior, Prada, Lanvin, Mugler, Biba and many more great names.
Love Story came about from my love of vintage furs. I had been scouring markets for as long as I can remember for vintage clothing and brought home my first vintage fur around the age of 15 to my dad (who was a tailor) and proudly announced that it was “real rabbit”, thinking that was an extremely valuable find!
Little did I know that thirty years later, I would have my own label, which features rabbit, fox and raccoon furs.
My love of clothing was inspired by growing up around the fabrics that my parents imported for their clothing boutique in Double Bay. They were both tailors and crafted beautiful hand made suits for many Eastern Suburbs women. Ita Buttrose was one of their most highly valued clients.
Fashion is in my bloodline; my great aunt having dressed the queen in her corsetry. She had a shop opposite Harrod’s in London, where she hand made her beautiful lingerie.
When I first came out of high school and started a job in the corporate world as a secretary at the A.B.C., I would turn up to work in outfits I had picked up at Paddington markets that weekend that were more suited to a vintage fair! Needless to say I did not last long at that job. My job with a catering company finished when I wore a hot red bob wig to a function. On graduation from my counselling diploma, it was my teacher who eventually encouraged me back to fashion. As much as she thought I would make a good counsellor, she said that fashion was where my heart and passion lay.
I have always expressed my creativity through my clothing and dressed oppositely to what was expected of the event. The one comment I often hear from people is: “Only you could get away with wearing that Liz”. I have always found that if you feel comfortable in something and wear it like it’s your skin, you can get away with almost anything. You have to be confident wearing the clothing and not let it wear you!
The best way to sum up how I feel about fashion is a beautiful quote by the fashion photographer Bill Cunningham
“Fashion is the armour to survive the reality of everyday life”

PRADA ... PRADA ... PRADA

My love affair with Prada escalated when I discovered their pink glitter pumps last season. Their fish scale sequin dresses did nothing to dampen my obsession!

So, on my recent trip to Hong Kong, I could not resist checking in on my new favourite label as the sales were abundant.
Here are a few of the amazing pieces that I picked up. You can find these listed on my ebay store.
I did not find my lusted after pink glitter pumps on sale, so I will have to wait for someone to put them on ebay. However, I did find a few Prada and Miu Miu shoes, which are also listed in my ebay store. See pics below.
The dresses are Mad Men Eat Your Heart Out !!

I know that Flapper is In and Mad Men are Out, but come on girls, who can resist these beautiful fabrics … and the craftsmanship is Out Of This World !!
